Burning Bush Moments is a nonprofit specifically designed for at-risk male youth, with special interest in redirection of life choices through advocacy, re-education, mentoring, and ultimately placement of youth.
Our goal and motto is, “Intervention Not Detention.”
Statistics show that 67% of delinquent youth will reoffend and continue a life of criminal behavior. Through our personal research in meeting with juveniles in delinquency we have found that the main contributor to their recklessness is a lack of education, lack of stability, and a lack of or misconstrued version of love. Boys in particular do not always gravitate toward affection or attention as a means of being validated, but instead lean on acceptance and respect shown to them.
“By modeling a teach to reach method, “Do as I do.” Our young men become conditioned to positive behaviors. All of our boys matter. Intervention should always be our goal.” Rosario Dowling, BBM Founder

Advocacy
Advocating on behalf of our boys and young men helps them develop a sense of value of people, things, their families, and the community. Some of the our boys and young men lack support from a family, hence their reckless behavior.
Our volunteers advocate by supporting the growth and transition of our youth into adulthood by:
- Visiting youth within YDF
- Attending key court dates
- Writing letters of support to court when appropriate
- Speaking on their behalf in juvenile or adult court when appropriate
- Correspondence after placement or 18th birthday has taken place
Some of our boys and young men are enrolled in college courses due to the generosity of a matched mentor/advocate/sponsor.
